Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised (Psalm 48:1). No matter what, God is great. He is to be praised. No matter what. No matter the circumstance. No matter what comes our way.
Nothing takes Him by surprise. None of my present circumstances and none of yours take Him by surprise.
With every new circumstance or happening of ours, God hasn’t changed.
It’s just that we may have gained new information, knowledge of what was already there. Or someone has come into or out of our lives. Or one experience opens or closes a door that we didn’t expect. Or an accident or mistake alters the path that had once seemed so clear before us. And we might say that everything’s changed.
But with the Lord, regardless of the circumstance, nothing’s changed.
He hasn’t changed. His knowledge hasn’t changed. His ways haven’t changed. His plans haven’t changed.
He is still in control. He is still able. He is still faithful.
No matter what, God is still great. He is to be praised.
Even if it feels hard because of the change we’ve experienced or seen with our eyes, God is to be praised. God hasn’t changed.
So praise Him. That’s what He’s said to me. It’s the truth in the midst of circumstances, whether they’re overwhelmingly good or bad, or just mundane. It’s a door to the joy He gives us.
Two words: Praise God. Three words: He is worthy. Four words: I praise You, Lord.
God is still God. He is still able. He is still great and greatly to be praised.
