I know God reigns. He reigns over all, the heavens, the earth, and me. I can harden my heart and rage against Him, or I can worship Him with reverence and praise Him with trembling.
What will I do? I long for the Lord, and I long for His ways. My only choice is to worship and praise Him at all times. The nations may rage, but I will worship. That’s my response.
I humble myself before my God and follow my Jesus.
Everything is not going how I want it to. It rarely does. But it’s not up to me to make things happen, or to order my steps, or to plan my days (Psalm 37:23).
It’s up to me to worship the Lord with reverence.
It’s up to me to rejoice with trembling.
The Lord is God and I’m not. He reigns.
It’s up to Him to lead me. And He leads me in paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3). I don’t have to like the circumstance, but I worship and rejoice in the Lord.
It’s up to Him to lay the path before me. And it’s a straight path of His making (Proverbs 3:6).
His ways are not my ways (Isaiah 55:8). So if I’m uncertain, or not thrilled, or frustrated at how things are going, I will humble myself. Lord, let me humble myself.
May I worship the Lord with reverence. He is God. May I rejoice with trembling. He is worthy.
He has all things in His hands. He has everything worked out.
This life is for a little while. He is preparing me for eternity where I will forever live in His presence and fellowship, without the hindrances of this world.
So if things don’t seem to be going my way, let me remember that my God is ruler. Jesus is the author and finisher of my faith (Hebrews 12:2). Circumstances are temporary. And He uses all things for my good and His glory (Romans 8:28).
God reigns. And He is the only true God.
