For my eyes are toward Thee, O God, the Lord; in Thee I take refuge (Psalm 141:8 NASB). I come before the Lord and give Him everything. I give Him all that I am and rest in Him.
He is my refuge, my hiding place, my strong tower, my defender and defense. May my eyes be set on Him. May my eyes forever be on Jesus, my hope and deliverer.
This world is so full of distractions. Some are seemingly good and fun, and others not so much. Either way, I don’t want any. I want to remain in Christ no matter what. I want to know Him and, even more, to be known by Him.
I want the love of Jesus to define who I am. I want His love to be my knee-jerk reaction. I want all my lostness — my sin, my shame — to be entirely lost in Him.
And yet I stumble. I concern myself with me more than I seek Him or trust Him to care for me. And when I do that, when I slip my eyes off Him and off His ways, I end up concerning myself more with me than others, and I do not walk in love.
O Lord, guard me and make my paths straight. O Lord, I call upon Thee; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to Thee! (Psalm 141:1 NASB)
This is what I want, this is my longing: for the Lord to hear me, to be my refuge and my defense.
Let my eyes be fixed on You, Lord. Let me dwell in You, that I may walk in Your love, that I would know You and Your ways. And that You would know me.
May my prayer be counted as incense before Thee; the lifting up of my hands as the evening offering (Psalm 141:2 NASB).
