Jesus says His Father in heaven knows my needs. He says He’s my provider.
If He’s my provider and He’s my supplier, then who’s responsible for meeting my needs? Him or me? If He’s my everything, if He says one thing is needful and that’s Him, then what about my physical needs on this earth? Who’s needs are they?
Who’s needs are they if He wants me here on this earth? Who’s the one who can supply every need? Can I? I can try. I can assess, take stock, come up with solutions, execute plans, but if the Lord isn’t the One providing the answers and leading every step, then it’s all in vain.
I make plans, but He directs my steps. He knows my needs. And He knows best how to meet them, when to meet them, and every detail about them.
And He knows my real need, the need that surpasses all my physical needs, the need to be reconciled to Him. He knows my need for Him. And He knows my want for that need. My singular desire to know Him, to be like Him, to love like Him, to walk like Him.
My physical needs will all pass away, and they are all His. He’s the one in charge. The needs are His to cover, not mine. And He uses them.
He uses this physical world and the needs it presents to chasten, train, mature me. To build me up in faith. To build me up in Him. Because He’s faithful. He always pulls through.
And His ways are higher than mine. He calls me higher. He burns away the dross, gets rid of whatever stands between us, using this physical world to do it, to let me know know Him, to make me like Him, to make me love like Him, so I can walk like Him.
He is my need. My only need. He is my hope. He is my peace. He is my joy.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is lovingkindness, and with Him is abundant redemption. (Psalm 130:7 NASB).
