Psalm 117 is short and sweet. And it’s all in there.
Praise the Lord. It’s everywhere in the Bible to praise Him. It’s a foundation. We praise Him because He’s worthy of praise. We praise Him, and all creation praises Him.
It’s in our nature to praise something, someone. It only makes sense to praise the One who made us, the Creator of everything. If we can praise Him, why praise anything or anyone else?
So, praise the Lord, all nations, all peoples (Psalm 117:1). Everyone, everywhere. No one is excluded in this edict. All creation testifies to His glory, so it’s only fitting that all creation should praise Him.
His lovingkindness is great (Psalm 117:2). It’s not just great in general, but it’s great toward us. He loves us. He’s dished out His love for us and offered it to us. We don’t have to take it, but it doesn’t change the fact that He’s done it. His lovingkindness is great toward us, plain and simple.
And His truth is everlasting (Psalm 117:2). He doesn’t change. Ever. I love this. I love that He’s given me something certain, reliable, unchangeable. And what He’s given me is Him.
I mean, who likes change? Yet change is inevitable in this world. No one can deny it. But He’snot of this world. He doesn’t change. He is everlasting. His truth is everlasting.
Praise the Lord. Absolutely. Praise Him. He’s worthy of praise, He loves us, He’s everlasting. Praise Him!
