This came from a question I had for the Lord at a difficult time. My question was this: Lord, how do I pray in unity with You, in a way that blesses You and honors You?
And this is how I received His answer.
Father in heaven, Your name is holy. Let Your kingdom come. Let love abound here. Build Your kingdom in my heart, in this home, in my life and all around.
Let Your will be done. Do Your will, Lord, not mine.
On earth as it is in heaven. You say the word in heaven and it’s done. Say the word here, Lord. Speak. Let me hear. Say the word of Your will over me, over this home. Let it be done.
Give us this day our daily bread. Today, Lord. Man does not live on bread alone, but every word from Your mouth (Matthew 4:4). Speak, Lord. Be with me, Jesus, Word of life. Let me live in You. Today. And all my needs are met.
Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Forgive me, Lord. May my eyes be fixed on You, not the sins of others. But when others’ sins loom and my mind dwells on them, lead me in forgiveness, Jesus. I forgive them, Lord.
Lead me not into temptation. Temptations come, Lord. Lead me through Your narrow gate (Matthew 7:14). And deliver me from evil, from the enemy. Satan prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). Cover me, Jesus, in Your blood. Cover the doorposts of my heart. Fight for me, Jesus. Command Your angels concerning me (Psalm 91:11). Deliver me from this battle. Only You can keep me from stumbling (Jude 1:24). Shelter me as the battle rages. Let me bless Your name and see Your hand of deliverance.
Yours is the kingdom.
Yours is the power.
Yours is the glory.
Amen and amen.
