Rejoice in the Lord

This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24). Sometimes, this is all I need: to rejoice in the Lord. The day is His. My concerns are His. My needs are His. Today, it’s all about rejoicing.

Rejoice in the Lord. It may be a struggle and by stubborn faith, or it may be pouring out of me without thought. Either way, to rejoice in the Lord is my answer.

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! (Philippians 4:4) Always. That sums it up. Always. Rejoice always. It’s not about how I feel. It’s not about circumstance.

And you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your sons and your daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, since he has no portion nor inheritance with you. (Deuteronomy 12:12) Everyone gets to rejoice. No one’s off the hook. Deuteronomy has a lot to say about rejoicing. It’s commanded quite a bit.

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” (1 Chronicles 16:31) Yes, He does. He’s over everything.

Worship the Lord with reverence and rejoice with trembling (Psalm 2:11). This sums it up. The Lord is God. In the midst of my day, in the middle of the night, this one thing I know.

Rejoice in the Lord always. This is the day He has made.
