Sustained

It’s not up to me.

I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustains me (Psalm 3:5).

The Lord sustains me.

Even in a simple thing like waking up, the Lord sustains me.

Life keeps picking up speed. Worries of this world abound. “Will I have time for everything?” And, “I don’t have time for everything!” These refrains run through my head.

The Lord is the One who sustains me.

He is the One who directs my steps (Proverbs 16:9).

No matter what I see, the Lord directs me. No matter what my to-do list says, the Lord directs me.

Even in writing my lists, the Lord is there. He will direct. Will I ask? Will I seek Him? Will I listen to His voice, whether still and small or booming like thunder?

Psalm 3:5
Psalm 3:5

He is my sustenance. He is my everything. The Lord sustains me.

Even today, as I look at all that’s before me, I need to know, and live, and believe, and take hold of this truth.

The Lord sustains me.

It’s not up to me.

The Lord sustains me.

He is the lifter of my head. He is a shield about me (Psalm 3:3).

I awoke today because the Lord sustains me.

I will live today because the Lord sustains me.

Salvation belongs to the Lord; Thy blessing be upon Thy people (Psalm 3:8).
