But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, at Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You. O Lord, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes…. (Psalm 5:7-8)
It’s the place I want to be, the house of the Lord (Psalm 5:7). I want to be where He dwells. And I don’t mean church. I want to be in God’s presence. I want Him in my midst. I want this all the time.
It’s by His lovingkindness that I can have what I want, to dwell with Him (v. 7). It’s because He loves me. It’s because He made a way.
And it’s because He wants it too.
The God of all creation wants me in His house. He wants me to dwell with Him. He wants me in His midst, and He wants to be in mine. He wants this all the time.
Because He loves me.
Yet I stumble, I fall, I sin. These foes get in my way (Psalm 5:8). My path gets unclear, tangled with weeds, and a side road may look a little better to me.
But it’s not the path of righteousness. Lord, lead me in the path of righteousness (v. 8).
I will fail, but the Lord will lead me if I seek Him. Lord, lead me because of my foes.
It’s His kindness that leads me. He leads me to repentance (Romans 2:4).
I repent, I receive, I rejoice. And at his holy temple, I bow in reverence (v. 7).
It’s the place I want to be, the house of the Lord. It’s the place he wants me. And He’s the One who can get me there. And he’s the One who made the way, the path of righteousness. He alone can lead me, by His kindness, by His life.
And I give Him my life, humble myself, and bow in reverence. Thank You, Jesus.
