When I Have Questions

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked…But his delight is in the law of the Lord. (Psalm 1:1-2)

There are so many questions that I have.

Some are small, seemingly insignificant things. But to me, they matter. So I know they matter to the Lord.

Some are big, and life-changing, things everyone would agree are important. I know Jesus cares about these too.

I know we often wonder if He cares more about the big things than the little things. I hear sentiments like, “I don’t want to bother God with that,” among others.

But Jesus says our Father sees the sparrow (Matthew 10:29). And they’re small. There are also tons and tons of them. They appear quite insignificant.

I’m quite sure God has no trouble being bothered with both my small and my big questions.

In fact, there are plenty of times when I see God answer the small stuff. I see Him move in the little things. Meanwhile, my big questions remain.

So I press in. I seek the Lord.

Frustrated as I may feel, I delight in His law. Easy as it would be to seek the counsel of this world, I meditate on my God’s law.

I see Him answer small things all the time. How can I doubt that He’ll also answer the big things?

Yet, I do doubt. Even so, I meditate in His law day and night (Psalm 1:2).

In this, I am blessed.

I may want my questions answered. I may not want to wait on the Lord. This world and the wicked, may offer immediate answers or answers that look pretty.

But I want God. I want His blessing.

My delight is in the law of the Lord.

I meditate in His law day and night.

And I will wait on the Lord.
