My voice rises to God….In the day of my trouble, I sought the Lord (Psalm 77:1-2 NASB).
When trouble comes, as it always does, I will remember Your mighty works.
That’s all You ask of me in rough times, or any time really. You are faithful and You always have been. So even when everything around me is dark, I can remember Your mighty works.
I can call them out. I can proclaim them. Just as the Israelites repeatedly listed the specifics of Your leading them out of Egypt, I can list the specifics of Your leading me out of my life of sin. Those were mighty works.
So now, when I struggle to see Your hand in anything in my life, I can remember Your mighty works.
When I feel like You’ve abandoned me, I can remember Your mighty works.
When I feel alone and forsaken, I can remember Your mighty works.
Because You never change.
If You rescued me from sin, You can rescue me from anything.
If You pulled me out of the pit, You can pull me through the toughest days.
If You made all things new and brought me into a beautiful land, You can make everything beautiful again.
And You will. Nothing on this earth is forever. I will see good days and bad days.
Through it all, I know You are faithful.
So I will remember Your mighty works.
I shall remember the deeds of the Lord; Surely I will remember Thy wonders of old. I will meditate on all Thy work, and muse on Thy deeds. Thy way, O God is holy; What god is great like our God? Thou art the God who workest wonders…. (Psalm 77:11-14 NASB)
